Another Vancouver izakaya outpost here in Toronto! This one specializes in everything grilled and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If it’s a birthday party, make sure you let your server know so they’d shut the light off, bring out your deserts with candles on, and all the servers sing a heavy-accented version of Happy Birthday.

Kushi Katsu Senmonten Manji (串かつ専門店 萬時), Tenmabashi (continued from here). The set menu we chose had all the usual favourites - prawn, oyster, fish, pork katsu, chicken, as well as a few special additions such as crab and shirako (fish sperm sack, bottom left pic). More sperm sack please! Creamy inside, crispy golden brown shell with finely chopped shallot - oh man! so damn good!
